HTC brings brilliance to life through leading innovation in smart mobile device and experience design. Beginning with a vision to put a personal computer in the palm of their customers' hands, they have led the way in the evolution from palm PC to smartphone.
As they expand into new markets and hardware categories with the Re camera and the HTC Vive they were in need of a differnt approach to UX design. Site localization accomodated over 30 different languages. Some languages character count caused readability issues, spacial issues, etc. The content mangagers were tasked with figuring out HTML and CSS within a content mangament system while staying within the design guidlines. The content managers were not familiar with HTML, CSS, or best practices.
We collaborated with the PMs to develop a design language and guidlines that facilitated languages that we defined as having "Long", "medium", and "Short" character counts. Since the content was based on location we provided a language based font size format in two categories. "Short to medium" and "long". This created a design standard the provided an cohesive end-to-end experience across all languages and formats. Having strong knowledge of HTML and CSS I was able to define HTML/CSS templates for the content managers. This allowed them to focus soley on content creation.
